Business intelligence requires more than desk research. It demands field competence, analytical craft, and a deep understanding of local dynamics. My background combines all three elements.
Southeast Asia Expertise
With over 20 years of Southeast Asia experience and long-standing professional activity in Thailand, I bring a perspective that goes far beyond tourist impressions or expat bubble knowledge: I understand how decisions are made in the region, which informal networks matter, and where Western assumptions reach their limits.
Military Background
I served six years as a soldier in the German Armed Forces, including peacekeeping deployments in the Balkans (SFOR/KFOR). This operational experience sharpened my understanding of geopolitical dynamics, risk analysis in uncertain environments, and the importance of precise situational assessment.
IT Security & Risk Management
Fourteen years in IT security – as an IT Security Manager and IT Security Auditor for ISO 27001 and BSI Grundschutz – taught me systematic analysis, structured risk assessment, and the ability to present complex matters in a way that is accessible to decision-makers. I apply this methodology today to geopolitical and economic questions as well.
Journalistic Work
As an analyst, I publish in German and international media, including Consortium News and Geopolitical Monitor. A focus of my work lies on Southeast Asia, where I examine strategic dependencies, spheres of influence, and security architectures. I combine operational insight with source-based analysis – beyond opinion journalism.
This combination – operational experience, analytical craft, and local embeddedness – enables a perspective on Thailand that is covered by neither management consultancies nor conventional media.
